The National Archaeology Museum is home to a magnificent collection of antiquities. Its origins date back to the bequests of Domenico and Giovanni Grimani who donated their vast collections of Greek and Roman sculptures, bronzes, and ceramics as well as a collection of Egyptian, Babylonian and Assyrian objects. These were added to by other donations in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
